Adult Chocolate Milk

“There’s a chocolate milk party going on, and you’re invited, aren’t you excited?”

The opening line of the catchy promotional jingle for Adult Chocolate Milk, creates an anticipation to try the Adult Beverage Company’s first product. The accidental late-night alcoholic creation of company co-founder Tracy Reinhardt is making headlines across the nation as one of the newer adult beverages with an adolescent playfulness (see adult whipped cream post).

Presented in a classy 750ml or 1 liter milk bottle with a swing top, the 40 proof vodka based blend of different liqueurs and milk is geared towards “adults who want to revisit the taste of their youth.”

I admit that the idea of “Adult Chocolate Milk” is an exciting one.  What could be better when one is craving the satisfying smooth taste of chocolate milk than to enjoy it with an adult kick?

Unfortunately, this adult beverage is more about promotional hype than a satisfying any youthful craving.

Served cold over ice (recommend by the company), Adult Chocolate Milk visually resembles a light chocolate milk mixture.  However, one sniff of the drink’s heavily vodka aromatics reminds you that this is a 40 proof beverage.

Instead of tasting like chocolate milk with alcohol, Adult Chocolate Milk resembles a vodka based liqueur similar to Baileys, except that the vodka provides a lighter mouth feel.

The drink is not offensive, but it lacks purpose or place in this world.  Alcoholic cream based liqueurs already exist and drinking vodka with liqueur and cream is called a White Russian…sorry Dude I mean a “Caucasian.”

One of the few uses that came to mind while drinking Adult Chocolate Milk was to incorporate the mixture into a chocolate shake.  But then again why spend over $20 on a single use adult beverage when you could buy a bottle of vodka and toss that into your shake?

I recommend you passing on this over-hyped product and if you truly want an adult version of chocolate milk…make it yourself.

I appreciate this post. I have been enjoying some (regular) chocolate milk quite frequently lately, and I may have been tempted had I seen this product.

We were really quite disappointed. Oh well, just means that someone else can come up with a better product.

[...] perhaps Cream and Whipped Lightening are just another gimmicky product like Adult Chocolate Milk (click here for my review) that is more focused on first time and then repeat buyers.  Either way at $12 bucks [...]
