Another year is nearly past and the Glutton Kitchen has shutdown for 2013. So let’s take a look back at the year that was and revisit some of our favorite recipes which fit into a few particularly appropriately labeled “Gluttonous Categories.”
Cardiac Arrest Gluttony
There’s a form of legitimate gluttony in everything we do, but the following recipes made me question my sanity and whether or not my heart could handle more than a few sinful bites of each. This is not to say each aren’t great recipes, but they’re definitely not for the faint of “heart.” Click on each image to view the recipe.
To prove that not everything developed in the Glutton Kitchens is a calorie loaded bomb we offered you a few memorable recipes on the lighter side. Our “Deconstructed” Clam Chowder was one of the easiest/best foods we prepared on the grill this year and our Cuban Black Bean Dip was a tailgating favorite for the sports-glutton team prior to watching the Colts/Niners game back in September.
…or “gluttony with a twist” is how I’d define the following two recipes. As lovers of everything kimchi our Kimchi Chicken Quesadilla was a particular satisfying alternative to this standard appetizer. That said our twisted old bay caramelized onion hollandaise sauce for some enhanced eggs benedict was mind-blowing deliciousness…so good I’d bath in it.
Every true glutton has a sweet tooth and we’re no exception. The bacon jam developed for our cornbread waffles recipe is sinful savoy sweetness and who could ever complain about any cake that’s made with Baileys.
I’ll admit it. I’m a bit of a spice-a-holic. But our Tropical Canonball Meatballs even made me question the wisdom of using habanero peppers in the recipe. Nothing a little sweet rum glaze can’t fix though. Delish!
Thirsty Thursday is typically all about reviewing other peoples libations, but that doesn’t mean we occasionally don’t create our own. Our Prickly Pear Martini is an unwavering fruity adult refresher that is ideal for the spring and summer months.
We hope everyone has enjoyed all the recipes we posted this year. Stay tuned in 2014 for some revisiting of the old and the continue creative gluttonous you’ve come to expect from our kitchen.
