In light of the tragic loss of life in San Bernardino, CA yesterday, our weekly food recipe is being posted a day late. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost family, friends, and loved ones.
Our final month of recipes for 2015 concludes by leaning heavily on the adult wintertime staple of cognac or brandy. From eggnog to rich warms sauces you can seldom go wrong with a nip of cognac to warm your soul while Frosty the snowman is making his annual appearance in the front yard.
To start we’re shaking things up with a glutton adult dessert: Cognac Caramel Milkshake.
The simple fusion of cognac and vanilla ice cream is the base, while the inclusion of caramel straight into the blending process provides another natural layer of flavor complexity. Toss some shaved dark chocolate, nutmeg, and chopped pecans on top for a complete adult winter treat.
- 3 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1/3 cup cognac
- 3 tbsp caramel sauce
- Dark chocolate (shaved)
- Nutmeg (shaved)
- Pecans (finely chopped)
- Toss the vanilla ice cream, cognac, and caramel sauce in a blend and mix until smooth and thick. Add additional ice cream, cognac, or caramel sauce to taste.
- Pour into your chosen drinking receptacle and top with dark chocolate, nutmeg, and pecans.
